Major deviations.

It depends on what you consider "LA". Downtown Los Angeles? Van Nuys? San Pedro? All are different.

The coasts are temperate. In general, the farther way from the coasts, the larger the standard deviation in maximum highs and minimum lows.

Unless you are considering the high (Mohave) or low (Palm Springs) deserts or the mountains above 7000 feet, the climate is extremely comfortable (and many folks would argue that even the deserts and the mountains are comfortable most of the year.)

The inland valleys are hot in summer. That might be the biggest negative. The extreme coastal regions can be foggy in late spring and early summer. Still not a big deal.

Consider using Welcome to The Weather Underground : Weather Underground for useful climate and temperature information.

Well, more temperate than people would think. It also depends on what part, hotter as you go more inland.

the coast rarely gets into the 80s. downtown LA rarely gets to triple digits. a normal summer day might look like this: 75 along the coast, 85 downtown, and 95 in the valley.

That's exactly how it breaks down. LAX averages between 73-77F, downtown 80-85F and Woodland Hills 89-96F; all within the city limits of Los Angeles

Wow..the revival of a three year old thread.

Though 75/85/95 is a pretty decent way to sum it up.
