A city that alllow *millions* of illegals, shoddy infrastructure, crumbling schools, etc...the last thing on their mind are dogs and what they leave (or don't leave).

We're too lax and too easy on people in LA in general. We don't have the mentality of singapore, hong kong, etc. I dont think we'll ever care about cleanliness the way they do. Unless things get really bad, and it starts becoming a public nuisance.

Did not expect this thread to be about dogs.

Neither did I. There could actually be a good discussion on the topic in the thread title.

I think L.A. can do better with lessons from Singapore. Now I hate fines and rules as much as the next guy, but there are just some common sense things that people just don't do. Such as the dog thing and littering.

I also wouldn't mind a caning. Builds character.

I gotta laugh at this (old) topic. A friend of mine from LA moved to Hong Kong but came back not long after because of how filthy she found Hong Kong to be--kids and adults going to the bathroom in the streets, trash everywhere, etc. Say what you will about LA but at least it doesn't have to deal with the effects of having such a densely populated area.

I swear DTLA has more dogs than people, and both may someday exceed it's homeless pop...okay, that was a joke.

Seriously though. I'm walking down the street and every other person is walking one or TWO dogs and they just p*ss and sh*t where ever they want! People can barely do that on Skid Row, come on!

Also, may I point out that the Hipster population is exceeding dangerous levels in Downtown, Echo Park (God help them) and Silverlake. I'm all for those areas no longer being terrifying lol but come on! Every white dude in those parts these days is walking around looking like David Ruffin. Let's draw a line somewhere.

Really? That sounds horrible. Then somewhere like Tokyo would be the place that is actually clean? But I'm sure our American cities are still dirtier than Hong Kong.
