Hi, I'm checking out some apartment buildings and areas, I need opinions of people that live there, have lived or know someone that lives there.

- Archstone Studio City
- Kings Road West Hollywood (the area in general)
- Lindbrook Manor Westwood
- North Hollywood (Chandler Blvd)
- Apartment building around Park La Brea

Or any suggestions of gated, safe apartment buildings (if new, better) in safe walkable areas. Studios or One bedrooms for $1300 or less.

Default Seem nice

I lived at King's Road for 2 years, around 1995-97, it's a great area (I think). The others you've mentioned I don't know but should be fine.

Check www.apartmentratings.com and just keep in mind, alot more unhappy than happy renters will post...use your judgment...and your instinct.

Good luck!

I think some apt competitors post nasty things on those sites too. The one we chose had some really out there ratings and comments, but we think it is great.

I know, there are mostly bad reviews, that's why I posted a thread here. I can't believe all the apartments are as terrible as reviews say, so I want opinions of people that actually live there or know someone who lives there or something. I really got scared by those reviews, one even talked about homicide, WTF!

I need HELP people!!!

You need to be realistic -- Los Angeles is a huge city, and there are relatively few posters in this forum. The odds of finding someone who actually lives in, or even knows someone who lives in, one of these buildings is minimal. The best you can really hope for is general information about a particular neighborhood.

lindbrook is out of the question. They said my deposit was completely refundable and less than a week later when I went with another apartment they kept my money. Very bad natured.

It depends on what area you'll spend most of your time in. I personally wouldn't consider living North Hollywood or Westwood as I'm never in those areas. Studio City has a young Hollywood vibe, however, is still in the Valley. I would choose Kings Road or near Park la Brea. Both are great areas if you plan on spending most of your time on that side of the hill.

I have friends who live at Archstone. It's probably the nicest apartment in Studio City. Great facilities, safe, amenities, a guard. You get what you pay for though, because it's also probably the most expensive apartment in the area. Then again, a similar apartment complex over the hill will be 200-400 more a month, so if you want luxury living at a slightly lower price, live there rather than The grove or weho.

Kings Road I don't know much about but the area is great. Depends what you're into.
