OK, so I'm doing my work placement in Beverly Hills and I don't drive. Shocking. I know. So here's my question:

How on earth am I going to get a room (I've ruled out apartment for obvious reasons) in Beverly Hills that's close to where I'll be working? Am I doomed?

My budget for a room is $1000 per month and I'll be staying in LA for 2 months. I've tried looking Craiglist with very little success. Any ideas, anyone?

if you live within a few miles of your office the bus system isn't too bad.

If your office is near Wilshire Blvd, I'd look for an apartment east of Beverly Hills near Wilshire Blvd. You can find pretty much any price range you like off of Wilshire from crazy expensive to almost cheap (out near Macarthur Park), and there are plenty of busses along Wilshire.

But it is pretty much a 'you get what you pay for' kind of housing market along that corridor. You're unlikely to find any cheap hidden gems.

Ditto if your office is off Santa Monica Blvd. You can look in Hollywood or East Hollywood for cheaper apartments. Pretty good bus access. Again, those are 'you get what you pay for' parts of town.
