How much would say a 2 bedroom apartment cost including utilities and all that? What are some other youth filled areas/ party areas that are cheaper

Probably $1500 at the least. It has become more expensive in the past decade.

Echo Park is cheaper (I think). Venice Beach always had a large college age population.

Go on craigslist. I'm not doing it for you. It's about time you started doing things for yourself. I do everything in this house... oh wrong person... or is it?

So much depends on how much money you have to "party" with.

I pay $525 for a 3 bed house, not including utlilties with 2 other roomates.

My neighbor pays $900 for a 1 bed apartment, up the road from me on Commonwealth.

Silver Lake isn't really a "party" spot, but whatever. If you like smaller bars with good beer and burgers, it's a good place to be.

Fixed your post so that it doesn't sound misleading. The way you posted, it sounds like you have a 3 bedroom house that you pay $525/mo for.

Silverlake is overpriced and severely overrated; some hills and a reservoir (no lake)... and if you are looking for a "party" city, you'll be a bit disappointed.

Troof, if it's so "overpriced and overrated", what area would you recommend that is full of young hip art kids that is safe and also relatively cheap? And I'm not being a smartass, I'm genuinely interested as I'm thinking of moving out there this summer and still debating where.

Echo Park... most will suggest not as safe as SL -- but all the hipster areas of Silverlake are near-ish to Sunset anyway, so that part of Silverlake and Echo Park aren't that far apart.

I'd also even suggest downtown LA -- plenty of arts / music, etc.

SX0T -- It'll all come down to your budget and all that jazz of course. If you're looking for your own place / roommates / job location / etc.

Who knows -- maybe you'll find a great bargain spot in Silverlake.

Take a trip about town and visit all the surrounding areas -- see whatcha like, and what kind of places are available within your budget.

Good luck
