LA's tallest proposal scaled back (Los Angeles, Paradise: condos, hotel, luxury)

the original plans to include a 560 room hotel tower that would be 750 feet tall and the office tower that would be 1,250 fh tall were scaled back

the new envision includes one tower only. but in the bright side it will get 900 hotel rooms nearly doubling from the original proposal, and the best part is that the new tower will be ranging from 1,250 feet or taller! having 75 - 80 stories.

Sounds like they are still deciding how tall the single tower will actually be. The linked story says it might be just 60 stories (like the Phase II tower was supposed to be), or as high as 75 to 80 stories.

Either way it will really alter the LA skyline. I would like to see a new 70 to 80 story tower....that would really stand out.

I am pretty sure that this will get built and also pretty sure that this will not only be the tallest building in Los Angeles standing 1,250 ft but will also have the highest number of floors from 75 to 80

I predict this because they are putting all their efforts into making this a single phase project that will be open by 2016, and for the height if they were willing to build a 60 and 40 story tower they will certainly build the tallest in LA.

Plans for this tower are 1000 + feet allowing it to reach 1250 feet.

The proposal looks like every other tapered wedge skyscraper with a spire. Nothing inspiring. From the air or coming down from the Angeles Forest Highway (2), when there's no smog, US Bank Tower really does stand out as the centerpiece and is fairly unique.

Korean Air has owned the existing 13-story hotel since about 1989, so they are in the deal at a very low basis.

The orig. Phase I was to be a 45-story hotel with some upper floor luxury condos. That is more than a tripling of existing density....also they got hotel bed tax relief from the city for the first 20 years or something.

So yes, they should make plenty of money on this deal......
