I've never been into dating sites. I always felt like they were cheesy with a high scum level. Recently my friends have been using OKC (not using full name of site because I'm not sure if that would be considered as Spam?) with great success. I get the impression that people in LA are using dating sites A LOT because so many people feel like it's hard to meet others here. My friend even went out on a date with a celebrity (again with the whole not mentioning name thing), which was quite random. He said he didn't want to date anyone in the entertainment industry. My other friend is now in a serious relationship and they're talking about getting married. Another friend has been with his partner for over a year now.

I don't really have time for a relationship right now because I'm travelling a lot but it's still making me curious. To be honest, since I've been living in LA I've never really met anyone that's blown me away. I meet "meh" guys but I wouldn't waste my time with them just for the sake of "dating" or for a free meal as some class-less women do. I fear that if I do go on one of these dating sites, I'll either bump into someone who recognises me from somewhere like work or I'll be in Trader Joes one morning and have some weirdo go "hEY, I sAw YoU LaST NiGHT onLinE? OKC riGhT?" Ugh. I don't know exactly why but I would be embarrassed.

Have any of you been on a dating site? How was your experience?

The idea that its hard to meet people in LA is a myth. I'm sorry but if you have to resort to online dating your either not very attractive or are socially awkward and need to work on your conversational skills. Just remember it all starts with a smile meeting people here in LaLa land is not hard at all....

I agree it's not hard to meet people but I don't agree with your statement about you must not be very attractive or you're socially awkward. Maybe some people find it exciting talking to others online and prefer meeting people that way. Maybe some people like to do both. Everyone has their preference. Doesn't mean anything.

I dont agree with your statement either about not being attractive or having social issues. Hello, it is 2012 we are in a new day and age, times have changed, and so has dating. We are in a digital age, and to use the internet to leverage dating is not a bad idea at all. I see the internet as another tool for the tool box when it comes to dating, does it need to be the say all be all? No! But it can still be of use, and I have met many people that are attractive and have great social skills that have fallin in love with a person whom they met online. The internet can be easy to use because you can easily find the people that fit your personality and criteria and you can trim out the ones that don't. So my answer is yes absolutely the internet is a great tool to use, but it doesnt have to be the say all be all of how you scout for people to date either.

Yes, I've been on and off with Match.com, and it's.....so-so. I mean, it'd probably be great if I was a girl, but I'm not haha. Getting responses on there is not easy, total numbers game.

As a woman, you need to go into it with an open/positive mind, not an "omg, is this what my life has come to?" sorta mentality. So many female profiles on there have a negative tone, try not to be one of them.

But yes, you should give it a shot. It'll be entertaining at the very least.

I say this SAME thing about Portland Oregon. Seems how people are speaking about L.A for dating seems like how Portland is too.
