I couldn't find anything recent about Wilmington, so I hope it's ok I posted this.

Am I insane for considering a potential move to Wilmington? I'm currently in Irvine and have lived in OC my whole life but job change has taken me to working near LAX. I'm looking all over the south bay but my boyfriend and I found an AMAZING place in Wilmington that we both *love*. But...it's Wilmington. So are we nuts?? It's off of Anaheim Ave if that helps.

I lived in Wilmington from mid 1996 to late 2000. Some parts are nice, most are not so nice. I would recommend looking elsewhere.

There are obvious things that will be much worse like gangs, schools, crime, noise, litter, far fewer amenities, etc., but what you may not be prepared for if you grew up middle class or higher is having very little in common with your neighbors. I think that people sometimes underestimate the importance of "fitting in" and becoming part of a community versus just living somewhere. However, if the people in Wilmington seem like people that you'd enjoy being around and you love the house, then I'd say go for it.

Yeah you're nuts. Wilmington is a crap hole.

And for once on CD, thats not really a hyperbolic statement.
