Friends,

I will be relocating to Woodland hills from New York with my wife and 3.5 year old son. My work location will be mostly in Owensmouth Avenue (Post Code 91367).

1. Can you please suggest a good condo/town home community closer to the work place
2. Any good pre-school for my kid - he will turn 4 this july and need a good school for his Pre-K preferably walkable from the apartment
3. Any other pointers/advise ?

Thanks a lot in advance

Thanks,
Srivatsan

I can't be specific but I am sure you will be OK. I think you will be working in Warner Center. South and west of there is desirable and upscale. North of there becomes less desirable.

Woodland Hills is the hottest part of the Valley. Make certain that your place and car have great air conditioning.

Topanga Canyon Blvd. (the next big street going west) is a good commuting street because it takes you to both east/west freeways---the 118 and the 101. Also, lots of good shopping there, too!

We lived in Thousand Oaks when I worked in Warner Center (Rocketdyne - well sort of Warner Center, Victory and Canoga). We sent our kids to Growing Place. We were very happy.

When we moved to Colorado and Alabama we would avoid any superstitious (religious) preschools and seek out Montessori - which are kind of expensive but our experience was perfect.

I think your process should be to identify where you are going to live, factor in you and your wife's schedule, and find a preschool in a geographically, logistically suitable location that meets schedule and commuting route conveniences.

The weather in Woodland Hills is dry and not as mild as the coast. You'll need heating for those cold winter nights.

Sparrow is right, the area along Topanga is nice.
