It's a pain to get to the freeways from Beverly Hills, even the 405. Sunset is always jammed.

seems like most responses on this forum is just people critiquing peoples questions and not much answers.

PS i am grateful for the people who actually give legit responses...

Downtown:

Pros
1. Most walkable neighborhood in LA
2. Lots of amenities, an increasing amount of them open late
3. You can get a loft with high ceilings in a beautiful historic building
4. Gentrifying faster than any other neighborhood in LA
5. Strong sense of community
6. Good public transit - its the nexus of LA's metro system
7. Good amount of parks (Pershing Square, Spring St Park, Grand Park, Grand/Hope Park) with more planned (101 Park)
8. Arguably the best restaurants in LA
9. Indisputably the best bars in LA
10. Artwalk

Cons
1. Skid Row is an unsolved problem
2. Even several blocks from Skid Row you can still see its presence; you WILL get asked for change every day
3. Many inconsiderate dog owners let their pets do their business on the sidewalk
4. Parking can be expensive; many buildings do not come with parking and you have to pay $90-$200/month for a space
5. Can be noisy
6. Not really the "LA experience" if you're looking for that (beaches, palm trees, personal space, etc.). Its a mini Manhattan.
7. While gentrification is moving fast, it has a long way to go.
8. Cut off from the rest of LA by freeways
9. Can be hot and smoggy compared to the Westside
10. Artwalk

Pros about Downtown LA:
1.) It is like a mini-Manhattan with lots of amenities
2.) good dining, not the best in LA though, I disagree with that
3.) the best bars that's for sure
4.) the best art scene along with the best architecture in the city
5.) vibrant, always things to do, close to freeways and Silverlake, Echo, etc.

Cons
1.) Skid Row is like literally like a mini-city full of homeless, never seen anything like it. It's BAD.
2.) Still has some crime
3.) Not as glamorous yet but it's gentrifying
4.) It just looks so darn cool. I love the skyline and the palm trees surrounding it.
5.) Skid Row, I had to mention it again because unless you've seen it yourself there is nothing I could say to describe to you just how nuts that place is.

Pros about Beverly Hills
1.) Glam Glam Glam. It's super glamorous.
2.) Robertson Blvd. 'nuff said
3.) beautiful, clean area
4.) safe, quiet at night
5.) gorgeous art deco buildings

Cons
1.) some of the people can be snooty.
2.) way too expensive
3.) a haven for materialistic, plastic Kardashian wannabes
4.) I don't know why, this may just be a personal thing, but rich foreigners to me can be even more obnoxious than rich natives. I think it may have to do with the fact that in their native countries they can literally get away with what they want and here they have to show some restraint, even though they hate it. Not all are like this but there are some that are just over the top ridiculous with the elitism. I am talking Guilded Age with the ridiculousness.
5.) image driven, you literally cannot just stroll around in whatever you want unless you can pull off that I am too rich to give a **** rolling up in a brand new beamer.
