I am looking at a particular home in the city of Bellflower, CA east of Woodruff Ave and nearby the Byron Zinn Park. I am not very familiar with this area and would appreciate any comments from people that have first hand knowledge or know of this area.

My primary concerns are safety, gang activity, whether the neighborhood here is quiet and generally considered safe (as safe as can be in California that is). How is the crime activity?

Any comments would be very much appreciated, thank you so much!

I only have rudimentary knowledge of the area. It's rough around the edges, but I don't think it's too terrible.

Lots of property crime though, so keep your vehicles and belongings safe.

Thank you yby1, I have a fairly good car alarm so not too much of worries there. Only concern is keeping home belongings safe while at work, darn. Thanks again.

Definitely invest in a security system like ADT, Time Warner Cable, Bay Alarm...

Costco also has systems for purchase without the monitoring fee.

Yeah, funny you mention that, I was just on Costco's website earlier today looking at a 4 camera security pack. It has a very neat feature of contacting you remotely via any mobile device if any of the cameras sense movement (unusal hopefully), if there is a connection issue, and so forth. The only issue here would be whether having a security system would be a red flag for those that are on the prowl? Thanks again for your input yby1.

It really is a deterrent. Of course, some a-hole may try to get in, but more the most part, burglars try to find easy targets.
Most burglaries are non-forced entry through an open window or door.

Yeah, okay, I think I've just decided to install a system if only to help steer people with bad intentions away.

I think I am the epitome of an easy target, a young woman just about 5' and weighing less than 100 lbs. We'll see, I hope to get more input from this site to see if anyone else out there may be able to provide more color on this area.

Hopefully it's in a good pocket of Bellflower. I've read up on the city of course but could only seem to find vague comments that there are good and bad areas like in most cities, fingers crossed and windows/doors locked for this area.
