I ask this because Valley living seems so far removed from "the City". When I lived in LA in the 90s, there were tons of folks who moved to the Inland Empire area NOT by choice, but because it offered them a home with yard, good schools, albeit with a hellish commute . Did this occur with the growth of the SFV too? Was there a desire to live "as close to Los Angeles as possible"? or were these people who just wanted to get the hell out of LA?!! Burbank and Glendale (at least until the armenians took it over) always seemed more desirable to me because of their central locations with access to the benefits of "the City", but also were their OWN cities.
