Here's a good one...
I was out driving around the other day up near Santa Ynez and came across a guy on a bike...he overtook me in my car, and very closely resembled Lance Armstrong.
I live in Carpinteria and we have a plethora of 'D' list stars here who you might see on the street every now and then. They are mostly normal, although some can be a little pushy and picky, but they are almost never rude...

Default over the years

David Lee Roth at ElPorto hanging out by himself on a bike ride. Said, "just enjoyin the day" so we took that as 'please leave me alone'.

Mylie Cyrus is in my daughters dance class in Tujunga.

Michael Clarke Duncan held the door open for me at Islands in Manhattan Beach (and he had a broken foot!)

Vicki Lawrence having her nails done next to me at a salon in Montrose

David Hasselhoff getting gas across the pumps from me in Malibu

sound pretty normal to me.

To the poster who used to work at Bristol Farm, I'm sure it was a long time ago. The days when a famous person could actually feign anonymity for half a day to get errands done. Johnny Depp lived in Los Angeles most of the 90's and there were frequent Depp sightings in LA constantly back then. I personally wouldn't doubt if he's still around LA at least sometimes. He does still own the Viper Room. and besides, stars like him fly anywhere they want so even with home and family in France it's not outlandish.

Those who have grown up born and raised So Ca are well used to seeing the stars randomly. Letting them live their life like a regular Angleno is sort of the way my friends always saw it. None of us ever really went out of our way to do the fan thing. I think me personally even if I saw someone I adore and practically worship, I'd still leave them alone. Maybe if I was traveling somewhere else it'd be different.

Anyway as for experiences, there were many through life, plus the ones my friends have had. I'll just mention a few. Funny one is a guy I know who works at Hoag Hospital carried/carted Anna Nicole's urine sample to the lab one night.

The peak experiences for my group of friends was running into our very favorite stars in the 90's at underground clubs, bars and music shows like Roxy, Whiskey or Al's Bar (now gone). Rubbing elbows with some stars at underground music joints of the 90s was an era of great times. The "IT" crowd of the 90s didn't have to deal with exploitive camera people like the millenium IT people. Makes me feel bad for the newer generation, actually. LA is so paparazzi plagued now.

Once Crispin Glover and two other stars (I didn't recognize them, a friend did, but the girl had the cutest outfit on EVER) came into a very teeeeny place: Al's Bar formerly in downtown LA, to play some pool. None of my friends really reacted. All the regulars and "regular people" sort of just observed the scenario nonchalantly; sneaking glimpses of the pool table area when waiting for their beer or sake bombs. It is actually hilarious thinking back because everyone went OUT of their way to avoid looking interested. And back then Crispin was legendary to his fan-base due to his brilliance in independant film and David Lynch movies. I have heard he was also avidly seen at the store called Soap Plant formerly on Melrose.

We saw Juliette Lewis at probably about 4 of the same music shows we went to and she was in the pit moshing/slamming at least twice. Once with a very beautiful shade of lavender to her hair I've yet to see on a human again. It's so great that she was up front on the floor with the fans instead of just sticking around backstage or VIP. This was at the height of the release of a few of her biggest films and yet she had music in her veins for sure as you could tell she was as much a fan as any one of us. No wonder her band now rocks the world.

Sean Lennon and Timothy Leary at the Roxy watching again an indie rock band. My then-boyfriend lit Timothy's cigarrette!!! (telling eh, you could smoke indoors still....). Strangely if I remember correctly, within that year or the next Professor Leary died so we always remembered that night.

Drew Barrymore was at a Whiskey A Go Go show my group of pals will never forget. This was around the time she was an item with the guy in Hole, Courtney Love's band. Drew was really very very sweet; so sweet and approachable it stunned most of our 6 or more person entourage of friends. We had a very charming, daring lesbian friend with us who walked right up to Drew at the bar, asking her "can I kiss you?" Drew giggled and said "you are SO KeWT!!!" and let my friend peck her cheek. She truly has just a very delightful energy about her that Drew. Kudos to her after all she went through when young. Anyway, If there were as much paparazzi back then as there is now it woulda been a keeper classic pic for my friend's scrapbook!!

A bit more recently in 2002/2003 my sister saw Verne Troyer of Mini Me fame, at a club on the Westside dancing on a table surrounded by GORGEOUS girls. Later when leaving my sis coincidentally walked out to valet just in time to see him board the driver's seat of a massive SUV rigged just for him. I still think the story is cute even despite the recent um, porn scandal he had. ew to that part. sorry to mention it.

also not of a huge surprise, we once saw Snoop 'Dog in downtown Long Beach window shopping a very cool sci fi/fantasy/comic book store by the name of Richard Kyle Books. We were in the store, he was outside checking out the displays in the huge store front window. early 90s that one too.

There's more, mostly involving music people, or stars shopping but the ones above are my faves.

Where would you recommend to go see ,fun places etc.
If you live in the right place and have kids you will meet stars,no big deal but always interesting when your son phones you up at 1am and asks can you pick me up from "jimmy`s house" on blah blah drive? When you get there you find a house full of "pissed up" movie stars who force you to drink large amounts of alcohol. Never a problem!!

Default Manhattan beach is good

I live in manhattan beach and I mean we see celebs often. People see Miley Cyrus around sometimes. A ton of athletes live here so you just see them around town. Also people see Britney spears sometimes. Some more common ones are like models, directors and producers and stuff. Like Quinten terrentino grew up here so my uncle knew him him growing up. But if you do come looking for celebs please don't act so touristy when me and my friends see tourists we think it's really weird and so will the celebs.

The San Fernando Valley's full of movie stars. They also have interesting names, such as Jenny Juggs and Dick Horse.

And I find them more interesting than the so-called "real" celebrities.

I moved to LA 2 months ago. Met Tom Hanks and Nia Vardalos (My big fat Greek wedding) at a wrap party last week. Did have butterflies in my stomach when I shook Tom's hand.

Reminds me of a night at the Whisky in 1982. I was watching the Dead Boys- I believe Stiv Bators was in the band at the time. Anyway, they took a short break and announced that they had a guest drummer who was gonna sit in on a song. Then a guy in a striped, short sleeve shirt and jeans came running out stage left, hyper as hell. He jumped on the throne and they counted out the song. It was fast and he kept up, still jumping around when the song was over. if was then we realized the guy was John Belushi and he was no doubt amped on coke and who knows what else.

He died a few days later.
