The cars look like the ones they drive in Africa '85-'95 year model cars. The landscape is the same (a desert). Honestly Anacostia, one of the a roughest neighborhoods in Washington D.C. looks like the 90% of the greater Los Angeles region.

So what's your point? Don't live in Africa then.

The landscape is desert like, and many of the side walks are simply dirt roads. The electricity is above ground towers. How does a first world nation have so much resemblance with a nation that is still in its first 100 years of development?
I don't agree with your comparison of the built environment. However, yes, LA (and California in general) does resemble NW Africa, as well as parts of the nation of South Africa, in many of its microclimates. That's a no brainer, we have the same climate zones.

You've never seen the migrant workers shacks in the South, have you?

Yeah, we should build with more brick so more people can die when we have an earthquake.

If you've already made up your mind that LA looks like Africa, why did you ask?

In terms of the supplemental poverty measure, the measure of poverty in terms of consumption, L.A. and Cali is by faaaaaaar the poorest entity on this land mass minus Mexico. It's too poor, and people don't realize that its poor. They think plastic signs for shopping centers, and cheap materials for housing instead of brick is the standard, no it is not the standard, it is the government not spending any money on infrastructure and it is simply POOR.
That's demonstrably false. You see, we have this thing called the internet, which gives us access to all sorts of information. We can fact check trolls like you in a matter of seconds.

Sure. But on the flip side, it's mercifully spared the ugliness of ideologically infused religious fundamentalism plaguing many parts of the country.
