I parked at LA Parking garage on Main st in downtown Los Angeles. I parked there only for 1 night. In the morning I discovered a nasty dent to my car and no guilty person left note. I filed accident report with management and police report in nearby station.

I called parking main number to ask if they could look at video footage. If for some luck, they would find car reponsible for this, it would help me with my insurance claim in avoiding paying deductible.

The girl on the phone was incompetent and not very helpful starting with mmmm, uh stating her doubts. I asked her for mananger phone number. I got it but as I call several times a day during normal business hours nobody picks up and no voicemail answering machine.

I am thinking of following up with LAPD to ask them and tell them I tried everything to obtain information but management is either refusing or unable to be reached. Can they have authority on my behalf to ask for video?

If they found hit and runner, that would be awesome because it would waive my deductible on insurance.

I understand LAPD has higher priorities when no injuries involved, but since I tried maybe they could help me? At worst, I would like it to be they found no video footage than I just dealt with apathetic parking garage management.

Well hit and runs are a priority for LAPD right now.

Maybe inform the people at the parking garage that there's currently a $1000 reward for information leading to convictions on hit and runs involving property damage.

Call to that "incompetent" girl again, say you need to see the footage and ask her to forward your call to her manager if she cannot authorize that...

Don't be confrontational to small people, they don't owe you nothing, you ask them a favor actually...

It's very rare that a parking garage has video recording in the garage. Are you sure they do? IF they do, they likely don't keep it for long.

The police got video footage but video is too blurry to get the license plate number, so it was useless. I got relief that I tried and they were very good about following up on my report even though there was no injuries.
