...are they required to work in areas that's gang-infested but has an electrical problem?

I'm applying for the electrical distribution this year, and I'm wondering, would I be required to have an assitant?

If they were working in gang neighborhoods, can electricians have a 'piece' with them in case anything happens?

Are there any more trainee programs besides to one in the Los Angeles' Eastside?

No, I'm sure when the power goes out in Watts, they just ignore the problem and don't send people out to fix it. There's also no mail delivery or utility meter reading there either.

I'm sure carrying a weapon while on duty is a good way to get fired.

Who then fixes the problem besides DWP?

No, I've never been an LA electrician. But do you really think they'll only send black people to south central, Mexicans to East LA, whites to the Valley, etc? It would take about 2 seconds for a law suit to be filed.

I guess so. So, no matter what color the person is, the DWP shouldn't send people on risky situations right?

Well I'm sure they wouldn't send people out into the middle of a riot, but part of the job is going into neighborhoods you wouldn't want to live in.

Yea, I heard that DWP do pay a lot, so I need it if I don't want to wind up in South L.A. or the Eastside.

i doubt anything will happen to you if you go into a bad neighborhood. you're not doing anything that will cause people to do anything to you, you're just doing your job.
