I've looked up information on apartment rentals in the Los Angeles metro. I happen to live in Virginia (my home state) right now and I live off of SSDI (a.k.a child disability-due to age considered disabled), I only make $1,284 a month which is fine for where I live but in L.A. I may not be able afford a small one-bedroom. Where do people on disability usually live in the city? Personally, I'm trying to get a good paying job with my degree so I won't have to live off of it but even the city in VA I moved to seems to have lack of industries. I live in the Southwestern area of VA which is a very poor area but I dream of living and working in LA. Any advice on how to network there? Does California allow out of state government assistance recipients to attempt to move there?

If you are living on a fixed income/government assistance why would you want to move someplace that is much more expensive than where you currently live? A one bedroom apartment, even in the worst parts of Los Angeles is probably going to be $1200/mo or more and rent is rapidly increasing. So if your budget is $1284 there is absolutely no way you can afford rent and the rest of your living expenses. Even if you lived with roommates in South Central or someplace I don't see how you could afford to live here

Just because I feel like LA could offer more job opportunities for me to be able to finally get off my feet, plus, I'm sick of living in small bible belt towns.

Well there are plenty of cities out there that would offer you plenty of job opportunities. There's a big line between a small town and a global city like LA.

Yeah I know but moving there without any prospects or someone to crash with, I just worry.

You could probably afford camping. Or rent a boat part of the year to live in, then pay for motels the rest of the time. If there is a Hostel, those can be cheaper. OR do the typical, rent a room. Or buy a trailer and stay on someone's property paying rent. Put an add on CL for what you are seeking.
Whatever field you go into, if you can work from home, that may be ideal.

Exactly.
SSDI, foot stamps, other gubmint programs blah blah blah.
Some people work the system well and get cash and benefits worth over $70,000.

Oh, I don't have that option.
