Took the Blue Line for two years from LB to downtown. Sometimes pretty late at night. I must've seen EVERY type on that train. Even during the riots, there were no issues or problems. Probably read 25 books and God knows how much $$$ I saved on gas, maintenance, insurance, parking. Have yet to drive to Staples either- Blue Line works for me.

L.A. has functioned just fine without mass public transportation. I will never understand why people want to fix something that wasn't broken. Unfortunately, it is now because instead of serving people who NEED it. Funds are being redirected away from busses to rails to satisfy persons who refuse to drive. I'm so glad Mayor Bradley isn't alive to see the wanton destruction of this once beautiful, peaceful city.

Same here. I refuse to drive to Staples Center and pay ridiculous parking fees and sit in traffic when there's a Metro station one block away. Unfortunately, if you go on the Lakers' website, there's absolutely no mention of the Blue Line station. There is however, a nice big colorful map of all the wonderful parking spaces. The Clippers and the Kings do mention the Blue Line on their websites though.

Thanks for letting me know. I got ahold of Danielle Boutier (Boutier@metro.net) at MTA when I saw the Nokia handouts had all this parking lot info, but little or not mention of the Pico Station. Thanks to her, and others like me, they finally dedicated a piece of their site to transit.

Like I have said, we PAID good money for this system- corporations need to promote it. I know lots of people like us who refuse to drive downtown, preferring to take the train.

Unfortunately back in the early 20"s L.A had the biggest and busiest transportation system in the world
But I think it's something called the streetcar conspiracy and in the movie who famed Roger rabbit that it's above how the automobile took over in los Angeles after world war 2 and how general motors took away the L.A subway system that ran over a 1000 miles in southern California......
But in modern times people are complaining that they want it back....a subway to the beach and subway to lax is all in the works as we speak and in the 21st century California is preparing itself to lead the world in the future
How cool would that be but in the end the culture of L.A will always be a car capital of the world

Not broken? Uh... have you ever attempted to drive from Central LA to the Westside at 5 PM? Oh, I figured it out you work for the Bus Riders Union .

(I know this is a super old post but the idiocy of some of these posters is astounding)
