110 Harbor Freeway commute and toll lanes (Long Beach, Carson: how much, beach, office)

Hi folks,

Does anyone take the 110 on a regular basis into LA? I am considering the Carson area due to it's proximity halfway between my work in LA and my friends/family in Long Beach and OC.

I have mapped it and most mornings and afternoons it seems to average 40-55 minutes from my start in Carson to my work close to downtown. I just need to get to Adams and I'm good from there.

How much are the tolls during the 7-8 and 3-4 hours? (or anywhere around there). I came the anti-commute this afternoon and the traffic seemed almost equally bad in both directions but yet the toll sign said it was only $1.75. That would be more than doable on a daily basis. I was thinking it would be 5 or more for that stretch between Florence and Adams.

Is the 110 just unreasonable? Did I observe it on a good week? Other friends take the side roads all the way up, but just can't see me cruising Figueroa or Broadway on a daily basis.

I'm pretty set on being closer to the harbor for personal reasons and I'm super happy with my job. Just wondering if others do this commute and offer any insights. Has anyone tried the Silverline? I work near the purple line. The blue line is a definite No.

It’s usually $13-19 northbound at 7-8a

Southbound at 3-4 pm it’s usually around $3-7, but I usually only take it halfway as traffic is not bad after you get to near the 105.

I would need it between the 105 and downtown. I see they raised the maximum to 1.50 per mile. I just wasn't sure if it hits that daily. I guess 7-8 is probably the peak of morning rush.

Are they getting better at catching the toll cheaters? In Texas they have a similar setup but when it comes to the toll point there is a left lane for carpools and right lane for solo drivers who pay the toll. There's usually a motorcycle officer sitting there to watch so it keeps people honest and there's no need for that switch on the toll tag.

I like that this freeway has that option. If they could add it down the 405 (on top of the existing lanes) it would be a game changer.
