Since Austin, Texas is always bashing and comparing and contrasting itself to LA, and other cities has anyone move to Austin and hated it and came back. I have lived in LA and Austin and know that Austin still has a long way to go.

Other cities are San Antonio and Houston. About 80%of residents in my subdivision in San Antonio are from SoCal and LA in particular. They are beginning to call the San Antonio/Austin/Hill country area -California East

I was in San Antonio once but I can't say any of it reminded me of Los Angeles. I did however eat the best steak I have ever had in my life while I was there. This was the steak of all steaks and I measure every steak I eat from that delicious experience.

One of my closest friends was born and raised in LA and moved to Austin about five years ago. She stayed for about 18 months and then came back. She liked Austin, but felt that it didn't measure up to LA, for her, anyway.

Honestly I don't think their is any city in Texas that will remind you of L.A.

L.A is unique.

North San Antonio and West Austin metro area look a lot like LA. There is an area in San Antonio called LA Heights looks a like like an old LA neighborhood with tons of stucco homes

Howdy folks I actually live in the country outside Ft. Worth but have spent a lot of time in the Austin area. For Texas it is about as liberal and sophisticated as you can get (some might argue that Dallas is more sophisticated but I disagree). That is why it gets a reputation for being Californicated. Nothing against CA - I go there a lot and I think it has some really great things to offer but I really can't say anyplace in TX reminds me of California.

That is true...Texans get offended when people from the Northeast and California come here and they act like it doesn't measure up to their past place of residence...if you come from California...Texans are more than happy to welcome you (most of the time); however...we do get offended when people complain that it isn't like their old place...if you want to try something new...check the state out...if you don't, stay where you are, the weather will be different, the attitudes will be somewhat different, and the amount of space will be different...

San Antonio and Austin metro areas welcomes Cali? Please bring a Trader Joe to the area. This will help the 3500 Californians who have move to San Antonio since February feel welcome. Bring some of your plastic surgeons too because I think the boob and face lift demand is going to go crazy here in San Antonio
