I think I'd probably call it a little San Jose, if anything. . . Maybe a little Bay Area.

If you are really serious... not true. The mountains are visible on many days in quite a few areas.

Like I care what people from Austin say about L.A.
The problem with Austin is that...Its surrounded by Texas.

Nevertheless:
You know your a Texan when:
You are insationably jealous of Los Angeles, yet hide it as contempt;
You think someone cares when you say that Texas is the only state that can concede from the U.S.;
You dont know that everyone else wants Texas to concede;
Your breakfast, lunch, and dinner all have beef in it;
You claim the beef is from Texas and thats why it tastes so great

First of all where can you get a 4000 sq ft home for 250k right now in Cali? (although I think thats coming) And as far as making 3x the salary in Cali compared to Texas...that's just not true!! I laugh when people say that though...all the way to the bank!! I agree with alot of what you have had to say on this forum...but not that. You should compare unemployment rates between the two states too.

I agree. We are not seeing McMansions for $250K in SoCal. I have asked for links to show this and it's usually an exception involving a fixer or it's in a not so desirable suburb/area. The short sales and bankrupties that post these lower prices are frequently not the final price because the bank tries to get as much as possible. The unemployment rate in TX is signifcantly lower and salaries (except in entertainment and IT) are comparable. I hire for the same jobs in both markets. My cousin who just moved to L.A. and is working for a major retail store complains that she made more at the same retail store in Florida than she does in Los Angeles doing the same job. She just assumed like many people, she could move here and make a lot more money so she quit (without doing any research) moved here and was shocked at the salary. Here are some links that add more insight.

Very interesting, Charles [btw welcome back]. That data won't sit well with Texans.

But the original: "You Know You're In California if..." is really funny and has been posted several times before.

lol

You know your in Texas:

When your burger joint has cockroaches dancing around openly, Whataburger.
When your day is Hot and Dull
When everyone believes the South defeated the North in the Civil War.
When every resident tries in vain to compare Texas to California in an attempt to bash Californians..

Hows that?
