With that comes Armenian influence from Armenia and Persian Armenian from Lebanon et all. There are markets and restaurants all over the place. Shamshiri, Raffi's and Carousel are three of the better known ones but there are many many lessor ones that I am sure are quite good.

East LA, strictly speaking, is still a majority Latino. But the areas just above...Pasadena, Eagle Rock, Glendale, Burbank, North Hollywood, Los Feliz, Hollywood (going east to west) are quite influenced by that culture.

Exactly. Wish I could rep you for that.

Mr. Floyd is confusing the East Valley, which has a large Armenian population, sizeable Israeli, Persian, and Moroccan populations, and many Middle Eastern stores, with the Eastside, which as you said hasn't had Middle Eastern stores since the Jews left.

I may be confused in general...but this I know. The center of all this discussion is Los Angeles. At LA's northeast end...yes "east of the river" which presumably meant the LA River lies Glendale. The largest Armenian population outside of Soviet Armenia supposedly. I just drove there yesterday. If the Armenians fled from there at one point, which they did not, they are back in full force.

Eagle Rock is Northeast Los Angeles. And Glendale is more east than west in terms of LA. What part of that don't you understand? Oh I get the East LA reference where Brooklyn Avenue, once teeming with delis and jewelry shops (large jewish population) and many Japanese. Boyle Heights to be exact. Then a different culture overtook the area and we now have Caesar Chavez Avenue. Jews migrated west (e.g. to Wilshire / Fairfax) as did the Japanese (Torrance / Gardena).

I have heard there is an area called Little Persia close by so I am hopeful. Has anyone tried Jordan market there?

thanks very much for all your help.
Just to clarify...this is the original post and the reference is West what? It's West LA people! And Glendale is north east so really east. Abush!
