I might be moving to LA for work. Have a question on finding pet friendly apartments - it seems like there would be a problem for me to find an apartment for myself and two cats and 14 lb Rat Terrier dog. I would be looking to live in either: Redondo Beach, Hermosa, Manhattan Beach, Culver City, Venice, Santa Monica or Marina Del Ray. Does anbody know of a specific apartment complex that would allow 3 pets at a time? (I already know to look on CL, Westside Rentals, Backpage and Rent.Com)

Also, I have seen some listings stating that the montly rent is $X/month + $Y per pet per month. Is this the norm in LA to charge additional montly rent per a pet or just depends on the complex. I know usually if not always a pet deposit is charged and understand that.

Thanks...I am very worried about trying to find a place there with my pets as it was no problem where I currently live.

I have no problem renting to pets ...... I do not charge pet rent; the pet deposit is $50.00 per pet.

We've rented two places in the LA area, although not in the cities you're looking at. In one case we paid a pet deposit, in the other case we didn't. We did not pay pent rent on top of that deposit, and while I've heard of it, I don't think it'sthe norm. I think the pet deposit was $300.

Thanks...I only saw these "per pet/per month" rents on rent.com and Westside Rentals....I didn't see them on CL postings but started wondering if I called I would be in for a surprise. Don't care about the pet deposits since I expect that - although I don't have a pet deposit here.
