Hey all. I am roughly in the area where the Angeles Nat. Forest fire is (Glendora) and I heard about homes being evacuated in some towns. How does that happen? How would we know? Does someone come knocking on the door or do you need to listen to the radio or something else?

Police officers will knock on your door often and police vehicles will go down the street using their loud speakers to notify residents that an evacuation is either mandatory or voluntary. You'll also probably see residents in your neighborhood leaving too of course.

Some places also have a mass-telephoning aid that targets selected dialing areas with a recorded warning or orders to get the hell out of Dodge ASAP.
