I dont think there's an authentic Cinco De Mayo celebration anymore as there are numerous celebrations going on all over L.A. and not one is more authentic than the other. Its just another excuse to party

Cinco de Mayo is a much bigger holiday in the US than it is in Mexico. In Mexico it's only a big deal in Puebla (where the battle that it commemorates it happened). It is truly an American holiday. We Americans love any excuse for a party, regardless of what country it comes from - we'd even celebrate the Moroccan Green March if it meant a big party. (Considering the amount of hash that comes from Morocco, if Americans were to celebrate the March Vert it would be a fantastic party if it were ever to catch on!)
