Okay, I know the title of this seems nearly impossible, but 2 friends and I will be moving to Los Angeles next spring from the east coast and are looking for something that will leave us with a dollar or two to eat after all is said and done.

We are three rather young adults who are looking for something in the >$1200 zone, if possible. Heck, I'll sleep on a couch if I must.

Does anyone know of any towns or apartment complexes that would be good options for us in the La area? We definitely want an easy commute to the city and do not want to live in an area where we have to be afraid to sit on our doorstep either. Thanks!

For 1200, you are stuck in a crappy 1 bedroom most likely.

1500-1600 minimum for a habitable 2 bedroom apartment in LA. a few of my friends are renting a 2 bedroom/1 bath in La Canada for $1600. no central air, no utilities included. LA is expensive!

My boyfriend is living in a beautiful guest house in the old mansion in Pasadena for 550 a month total. He loves it, because he has his own land, no neighbors, and is able to through large party's with no complains. If he's late on the rent its just $50 more. If you and your friends are willing to look at guest rooms in old estates your might find something workable...
