I agree that visiting a some place may be quite different than trying to function in same. Johnny appears to continue to be wide eyed in his adventures in LA. With a wandering type of approach, LA can reveal many treasures.

Now, try to go to the DMV. That's when you get a taste of the real LA. I, for one, would not park a few blocks away in Hollywood and hoof it. I know better.

But, Johnny, if you continue to explore LA, be here on a Fri night and go to the Bob's Big Boy in Burbank. Standing room only and 100's of cool cars. Being close to the studio crowd, you never know what or who you will see. Google it.
