Hi, everybody!

This year i m finally finishing my university. I m from another country, but i spent in USA a lot of time. I love LA n i lived there for one year, so i decided to enter some university here. My major is international economic relations n i m getting my master degree in 2 months.

But i m really interesting in filmmaking. I have no expirience, but i have a lot of ideas n a goal to achieve.

I was looking for a film school for a long time. First I wanted to enter Miami International University of art n design but i was told it's not a good school. My friends also told me that education in Florida is not that good, that it's better to go to California or New York. I guess New York is better for theater.. So i chose California, LA.

I guess UCLA, USC n CalArts re the best film schools here. I want to study film- n videomaking. What ll u advice me?

N I have no idea how to apply. I mean.. should I apply as a freshman or transfer.. or what?..

Thanks for attention! I m really tired of searching information about all these universities.. hope u ll help me..

U.S.C. is the best film school in the country. It is also one of the more expensive schools as it is a private University. Just call the admissions office of any school you are interested in and you will get the answers you need. If I understand correctly, you are presently going to college in another country so you have other issues to deal with besides what school to go to. Again, call the admissions office.

You are correct about USC not being the best film school. I know several graduates of the program, and while it provides great theory or the academics of film making (unless things have changed a lot lately), many students couldn't get their hands on decent light kits for their projects that a local community college such as Pasadena City College, well know for its very good television production program, provide. Oh, and community college here is a lot cheaper as USC used to be the most expensive school in the U.S. for many years.

Some folks take community college courses in video at Pasadena City College or film at Los Angeles City College, still considered to have a very good cinema program, then transfer to USC Film School to finish up and make contacts.

So, yes, USC is the best film school for CONTACTS. You must attend USC at some point if you are serious about your career. The friends you make there could get your jobs down the line, and USC is the pet of many a successful film makers including Steven Spielberg. Industry people do attend the USC student film festivals.
