I want to know how many people have moved to the Los Angeles area from a Southern state? Was it a hard adjustment? Major culture shock? Glad you made the move?

I have a cousin that moved to Riverside from here back in the mid-nineties and he adjusted quite well. Has a good job and is currently going back to school to get his bachelor's(Not sure what field.) Also, he currently has no plans of ever moving back.

I eventually want to go visit him for a week or so to experience California and the diverse cultures it has to offer. Would love to see what Los Angeles is like. I have never been out of the South and that fact gets a little old.

In the future, there are a few states I would like to live in for a couple years. Mainly Alaska and Wyoming, but California runs through my mind from time to time. Definitely wouldn't try to move there right now with the economy and such but maybe when things got better.

I live in Indiana, but lived in Alabama for a year when I was younger. I have also been through many parts of the south as well. I visit L.A. on average of once a year because I love the place. I never wanna come back to the midwest, but due to the economy I can not move. If you ever get a chance to move or visit Southern California I would highly recommend it! An endless supply of things to do and much more laid back as far as the way people dress and act. It may be a culture shock, it was for me, but a GOOD kind of shock

Welcome to CA in advance!

I am a native Californian. I just spent 11 delightful years in Atlanta, taking any vacation time in Los Angeles.

LA is marvelous due to the weather, the diversity, the food, and the proximity to cool advantures like the ocean, the desert, the snow, the mountains, Mexico, the culture, the movie and TV industry, the widely varied housing stock...you name it.

Best I can say is to get a job here then move. Dont believe everything you hear on TV. Your real estate agent will be helpful in finding a good place to live.

More questions?
:-)

Thanks jc, I would hope my stubbornness and pride wouldn't ruin it for me. I do tend to be more open-minded about things the last couple of years.

Yes, my cousin mentioned he could visit mountains, the ocean and the desert within 45 mins from his house. Thought that was rather neat.

I'm still trying to build my career right now plus I'm getting good experience with the job I'm at now. There is no way in hell I would attempt to move to California without a job.

Thanks stuffavail.
