We are thinking of moving to Hermosa Beach primarily because we would love to live by the beach and have our child attend the great schools (View, Valley, Mira Costa) in the community. However, we are concerned about the lack of diversity, particularly in the elementary and high schools. Can anyone speak to this concern? Are there racial issues in the schools? Do non-Caucasian students experience even subtle forms of discrimination? Thanks for your help!

I have not heard of any issues with students at schools. As far as diversity in HB there is very little. Mostly whites, asians maybe a few blacks. I used to work in Manhattan Beach, which is the neighboring city, we would go as a very diverse group to the restaurants/stores and never felt uncomfortable or heard any remarks.

Hermosa & Manhattan Beach are 2 cities with very friendly residents who are active as far as exercising on the Strand & the Greenbelt. The kids seemed happy & courteous, active as far as exercising on the Strand & the Greenbelt.

Hope this helps.
