Ameristar Lake Charles approved - KPLC 7 News, Lake Charles, Louisiana

Ameristar Casinos bought the license from Dan Lee's company. Now instead of being called Mojito Pointe, it will be called Ameristar Casino Lake Charles. The video shows some plans, as well as a pdf copy of them. It looks like it will have an 18 story hotel, parking garage, several restaurants, golf course, pool, spa, etc. It will be built right next to L'Auberge.

If this venture comes to fruition then it will certainly help give Lake Charles more economic development and jobs, just as L'Auberge du Lac did.

The name couldn't be worse even if they tried. Although nice for LC.

I really do not like the name, "Mojito Pointe" was way better for a name. But I do look forward to the project.

This is sort of rhetorical (unless you can answer it) but why do companies make flat out stupid decisions that a toddler could correct?

You are asking the wrong person. I cannot phantom what the individuals at this company were smoking when they made this sudden change.

Ameristar is the name of the casino company - that's why they are calling it Ameristar Lake Charles. I don't particularly care for the name either. Pinnacle did something very creative when they named their resort L'Auberge du Lac "The Inn on the Lake". (It's a bit bigger than an inn hah!). Perhaps Ameristar will think of something classy to name their casino??

Interestingly, there are now a few businesses, etc. that use "du Lac" in their naming - for example, DuLac Realty, a fairly new realty group.
