HI guys,
We are thinking to buy a condo (around $125,000 - 150,000 range). I searched online and a lot of people are saying its hard to sell a condo unless it is in a big city. we are not going to be buying one in downtown so it will be in the suburbs. Maybe near hurstbourne pkwy, or westport rd. Do you think it will be better to buy a house for $200,000? we dont want to buy a house yet because we might move to another city in 5 or 6 years. Also, we dont want to have to worry about mowing the lawn and all that stuff. Or should we continue to stay in a apartment and buy a house after 6 years? advice plz.

You're kind of in a hard position to decide what to do. Housing prices are down significantly so it's actually a good time to buy but there's certainly no guarantee that in five or six years that prices will have recovered significantly for you to make a profit (or even break even after paying realtors fees). In the Louisville area most of the condominiums that have potential to appreciate are located in the downtown area. Most of the year you mentioned are of lesser quality and don't really attract the best owners. Until you determine if you're going to stay in Louisville or move again your best bet may be just to rent a nice apartment (or condominium).
