I know the cycling scene is growing, B4L is a big part of it, I'm just wondering what yall ride on here. I don't really have any riding buddies. I'm not just talking about the spandex warriors, either. I know you have them, those who ride roadbikes because they chose to, fixies, bmxers, mtbers, hybrid riders, beach cruiser riders.

Plus there's very little custom scene, I don't mean road bikes, bmx, and mtbwith parts thrown at them to aid in function, I mean like low riders, bmx style cruisers, rat rods, pointless awesome rides to just cruise with, the longboard of bikes. stuff like on ratrodbikes.com. Street bred mtbs and whatnot.

What is B4L ?

Im a utilitarian cyclist. I commute to and from work and do all of my chores n stuff by bike. I hate cares and car culture.
I have a car and scooter, but I only use them on special occasions.
I've been a bike commuter in 5 states so far. The spandex/NASCAR guys have a philosophy I don't agree with or approve of for road riding, so I just keep pretty much to myself.

I don't hate cars, I'm about all vehicular culture, bicycles, step vans, whatever. I'm just looking for other cyclist who may not be solely with one clique.

B4L is Bicycling 4 Louisville, they just opened a community bikeshop on Logan st.

All of my bikes are street bred with speed in mind, for the most part.

I was looking for people to ride with recreationally when I first got to Louisville, and those guys from One Your Left on Baxter had some 'normal ppl' rides occasionally and Jackie Greens Bike Depot has some midnight bridge rides once a month ou might want to check into. Now,we are trying to get a house ready for sale and have new grandkids etc, I never can find the time to get out recreationally for some reason.

Staying in the Highlands
Four years ago, we had 48 hours to find a home in KY. We wanted to rent, but the realtor verily did her job and got us to buy. For two people in our mid 50's, we have waaaay too much space and yard in a house that is just too much for us to keep up with ourselves. I do love this house and will miss it, but we can get by on half the sq. footage and the money saved will be put to better use in a retirement fund rather than all the stuff in this old place that is constantly failing. That said, our love for the Highlands has remained the same. We want to luck into a small carriage house or restored shotgun on the Cherokee side. I watch reality boards as a hobby, so its possible, just have to be ready to jump when the opportunity arises. We are getting into "jump" mode right now
Thank you for asking!

You pay substantially more to be on the Cherokee side of Bardstown (they are better houses and substantially better and more stable real estate....location location)

It may be to your liking to try one of the shotguns in the Original Highlands (still great area), closer to downtown. I am thinking streets like Morton, Highland, and Breckenridge to be to your liking. You can still find updated shotguns for under 175k in those areas if you look hard.

Thanks Peter . . .
We even hit Craigslist occasionally. One great thing about this area is there are hidden gems everywhere.
I'm slightly flexible in that I would do Crescent Hill if it was a very unique property, but my Wife is set on staying in the Highlands. Regardless, its all good, As much as we've moved, I enjoy "the hunt". I think it's lots of fun. Sometimes I have to wonder if that isn't subliminally part of the reason we keep moving

I don't think its OK on CD to publish links to other websites, but if you Google Bike Depot Full Moon Bike Rides I think you will see it.

As an off-topic aside, when we moved to L'Ville, I was so blown away by the guy running for Mayor who was advocating bikes and public trans over car culture, and wanted to put brakes on irresponsible development, I went to work campaigning for him before our boxes were even unpacked. He is write-in next election, he still has my vote
