We're looking at moving to Louisville next summer and that fall my child will be old enough to attend preschool. I noticed that in other threads JCPS is noted as having Montessori influenced schools. What area would we need to live in to make this a possibility for my child? Or, if these schools aren't preschools, can anyone recommend a good Montessori preschool in a good neighborhood in or around the U of L medical center? It'd be great to get her into a preschool in which she could just continue on in her education up through elementary.

If possible, we'd like to live in the city within an older neighborhood that's seeing some revitalization and is safe for families. Also, I'd be interested to know if the Montessori public schools are actually led by Montessori-trained teachers, or just public school teachers who were switched over to Montessori when making this method part of public schools became popular? I went to a Montessori school for 12 years and the way they train their teachers is very different than the standard Masters in Education, etc.

Thanks for any and all advice!

In general, the medical center downtown is in a gentrifying and invigorating area. Search the posts to read more about it. That said, the best area for you sounds like the Original Highlands. I would start my search around Highland Avenue and Baxter Avenue.
