What did you think of this year's St. James Art Fair? (appointed, house)

This was my first time to have a space in the St. James Art Fair. Needless to say I did not get much chance to check out much of the other artists wares but what I did see of the main court and down Magnolia disappointed. There seemed to be a preponderance of "vendors" rather than "artists." The work I saw was highly reproduced with very little one of a kind originality and with exception of the groups on the periphery, most were from out of state. What do you think?

It is supposed to be the top 3 art shows in the US according to a few publications including Sunshine Magazine.

The vendors were all together it seemed on two different converging roads. But if you would have had the opportunity to walk around, you would have seen a diverse array of artistic endeavors.

Now not many of these are the type of thing you might see at a small local art fair, but these people are for the most part, professionals, and their work reflects that.

I too would have liked to have seen a bit more "homey" type stuff for lack of a better word, but, I don't think that's what the sponsors of this show are going for.

This was the first year I've been in a long time. My only complaint is how expensive everything is. I saw a few mirrors that I really liked, but one was 3,000 -- granted I realize that these are original works, hand made, etc... but 3k is more than I would ever spend decorating a whole house with accessories.

That said if I had a bunch of money, I would have walked away with some really cool stuff!

well that sure as hell hits the nail on the head. St. James is an awful, overpriced, crafts fair.

Everyone I know loves the art fair....my friend and I attended last year. I agree that there is a lot of junk and the pieces that were nice were out of our price range. We would not go again.
