I am moving to Lubbock in the next 2 weeks and desperately need a job. I am making a new start in life with my 12 year old daughter. I am moving from metropolitan NJ and have been in an office for 8 years and hate the city life. I have always preferred working with my hands and have wanted to have a farm my entire life. I love the country life and open spaces. I would eventually like to raise grains and feed hay for myself and to sell as well as suitable crops for the area. Down the road i would also like to raise horses. I have a very green thumb but have never worked on the size scale of an actual farm. I am searching for any kind of employment on a ranch or farm that is available for an entry level person. I am a hard worker but may take a bit of getting back into things after 8 years at a desk, but I am not a quitter but a big believer in doing a job to it's completion and doing it well. Is there anyone that can help direct me to some employment. Time is of the essence as school is already started and I do not want to disrupt my daughters education any more than absolutely possible. Please Help!

Farming is pretty tough in Texas right now.The drought is terrible and hurting farming. If you have trouble finding a job in farming then look at getting into construction. It is going pretty good and a hard worker that proves himself right away will do good. Most construction jobs will start you the next day.Good luck.
