Any local drivers out there? I think I made a thread about this months ago when my wife and I were preparing to move, but we made the move here a few weeks ago from Chicago (and love it) and as of yesterday I have my Texas CDL with tankers, double/triples, and am going today to get fingerprinted and such for my Hazmat.

I'm applying to a few places to haul water, but I'd also like to check out some of the local outfits that will have me home at a reasonable time each day. I've been working from about 11-9 six days a week for the past five years, driving for a contractor to the USPS.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

It's been too many years since I drove but I thought I would reply to welcome you to the Lubbock area, if I haven't already done so. Many years ago (40 or so) I hauled swinging meat from the area meat packing plants to what was then the Santa Fe RR piggyback yard at Clovis, NM. They've since moved most of that operation to Belen, NM and I believe they now use cranes to load the vans onto the train flats. Back then we had to "back" each piggyback up a ramp and onto the flat cars.

At any rate, best of luck and maybe someone who has some helpful information will jump in here.
