I remember when the MTA was in pretty rough shpae a few years ago, now it has a new fleet and is talking expansion to Houston County. I've been impressed with the changes they have made and I wish them luck. It would be awesome for Middle Georgia to truly have a regional transit system.

This could definitely help the two metros become one again. I'm surprised it has taken them this long to extend the service out to WR. I know some folk in WR don't want to be associated with Macon but they are so close that it is inevitable.

It is STUPID for anybody to think of Warner Robins and Macon as TWO SEPARATE METROS! It's ONE METRO in my book; always has been and always will be. The Feds only did that to appease the political powers in WR to begin with, because they didn't want to play second-fiddle to "big, black Macon." And it was wrong. Just plain wrong. Shameful, in fact.

That and Plant Scherer causes Macon to be an air pollution non-attainment zone and before the last BRAC they didn't want Robins in a non-attainment zone. Either way...they are the same place. About 1/3 of my coworkers live in WR. My partner works in WR, and of my neighbors about 1/4 to 1/3 work there. It is stupid.

Back to transit though...WR is the largest metro in the state without transit. They need it, but there is a lot of resistance to it there because poor people use it. The same reason Cobb and Gwinnett won't sign onto MARTA. What is funny though, transit doesnt bring in poor people...old housing and governmental neglect do and north Warner Robins is full of older homes that are turning into rentals and abandoned strip malls...and nobody cares...they just keep moving south. Good luck with that...ask east Cobb and western Gwinnett how that turns out...

Some just never learn.

It has always appeared that Warner Robins wanted to distance itself from Macon. However they seem receptive to the idea of the public transit coming there so hopefully this is a step in the right direction.
