Milan's was great. I remember eating at the one on State Street while reading the Onion after smoking too much weed and then hanging out at all the used CD stores afterwards when I should have been studying. Remember used CD stores?

The Radical Rye was my favorite though. If I'm not mistaken the Sterling Hall bomber didn't buy it till a couple years before it got displaced for the Overture Center. I could be wrong though.

There was a really solid indie music shop on State somewhere near Gorham that had some hard-to-find stuff. And then there's Exclusive, that still keeps hanging on...

ETA: nope, looks like they shuttered their Madison location. Bummer.

State Street just ain't the same since the local shops started getting priced out.

Maybe you're thinking of the B-Side? It was still there the last time I checked.

Hmm, yeah I think that's the place. The approximate location is right, it's on the correct side of the street...

Man, three blocks from State Street was a great place to live in your early 20s... (*sigh* getting old...)

that's pretty dang good for an indie shop to be around not years since i last shopped there but decades.....
Oh well, i can still remember seeing Metallica, Pat Benatar, and many others at the old Headliners back in the day; not to mention the bands we saw at the Shuffle Inn, Stone hearth, etc...

Yep, getting old seems to be going around lol

ok sort of back on point (subs lol).
There are a couple chains based more in the south that we discovered since our move here (Firehouse Subs and McAllisters Deli). I see Firehouse has recently moved into the Madison area. They do quite well down here, just wondering how they are going over up there?
