Hello,
I'm somewhat new to northern maine. I live on the southern tip of aroostook county. My wife work at the local school and I spend my time doing things on our small farm. When it comes to jobs lincoln and houlton have some jobs bit it seems pretty limited. Do people actually drive an hour and a half to Bangor for better work opportunities. Just curious what people are doing in the area for money? Thanks to those who reply

In the Bancroft, Danforth area, the jobs probably have to do with the woods. There maybe some camps down on the lakes. I like that area. It's got some great views.

Virtually no one would drive the two hours (each way) to work in Bangor.
Most people would just drive the 30 minutes to Houlton, even if the job isn't as good. Lincoln is twice as far as Houlton, but a few people might do it.

(And then maybe they would supplant their income with something close to home on the side).
Good luck!

The southern tip of Aroostook is Molunkus on Route 157 between Mattawamkeag and Medway in Penobscot County. It is 15 minutes from Lincoln.

lol.....forget what I said. The OP got me thinking about Orient for some reason.

15 minutes to Lincoln, an hour to Bangor proper, 35-40 minutes to Houlton proper.
So one good option, one fair one, and one kind of crappy one (imho).

If you are in a plane it might be 15 minutes from Bancroft to Lincoln. Closer to an hour in a car I'd say and those roads wouldn't be the best for travel in winter. I say the majority of folks either work in the woods or commute to the Houlton area.

Depends on the traffic in the Haynesville woods. It's a . . . stretch of road . . . up north in Maine . . . oh, wait, you'd be boogyin' down 6, not 2A. Sorry, just had a reminition (I made that up) about high school and parties at Dick's house out Ohio St. with Terry and Ricky.
