I found very good price for the fruit trees in FEDCO catalog but when I did search one other nursery it was price almost ten times higher: 24$ in FEDCO for the pear tree and about 170$ in the other nursery.
What is your opinion, please?

Thank you.

Fedco sells bare root trees. Is the more expensive tree older and larger?

Exactly what I was thinking too.

@Lumiwa,

You can also buy seedling trees from places such as the NH State Forest Nursery for about $1 each, depending on quantity, but such trees are 2 to 3 year old, foot tall things. Age and size matters greatly when buying trees.

That said, NH State Forest Nursery doesn't sell fruit trees.

The NH State Forest Nursery is sold out of a lot of stuff for this year, but if high quality and quantity conifer and/or hardwood seedlings are what you are looking for, book mark them for ordering next winter.

FEDCO fruit trees are sold 'bare-root'. They are often between 5 foot and 7 foot tall.

I have bought bare-root trees from other sources that were 12 inches tall.

Wow, this is complete news to me. Thanks for this great resource. Will be buying some sugar maples next year!

My fruit trees from Fedco are going to be delivered today or Monday. Would it be helpful to see a picture of them so that you know what to expect?

This is a Kaga plum tree from Fedco. I moved it so quickly I didn't think to see exactly how tall it is but it's close 5'. It was $24. The other trees are as nice and were also $24. These are much, much nicer trees than I got from Gurney's last year. I wouldn't plant the kiwi I bought from them. The kiwis )$14) I bought from Fedco are fantastic. Very pleased with everything I bought with the exception of asparagus, because I haven't opened the bag yet. I kind of wish I were going to the tree sale to add more to the orchard this year.

Nice plum tree you have there.

We have four plums growing. Last year was their first harvest. We decided to increase our plum collection, so I ordered more plum trees for this spring
