The National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for Charleston and most of WV - right now the heat index is 107* and it's only a little after noon.

Leaving for Maine Saturday morning and it can't possibly be that hot up there. We're very late leaving this year due to the illness and death of my father last month and all the Probate stuff(8 pages) that had to be done, not to mention insurance, VA benefits forms (18 pages) and all the other details. We'll be in Eastport, Sunday and staying until late November.

So, how hot is it where you are in Maine?

It's not bad. Low 80's now. It's been cloudy all day so that helps.

currently, it is 63 degrees, socked in with fog and a stiff cold breeze off the water. was thinking of turning up the heat. just a few miles inland they tell me its in the 80's and very humid.

a few hours ago I was in eastport, and it was overcast, windy, and felt like 70 , not 90

the coolest places are probably along the coast with a breeze coming off the ocean

Most likely on the coast.

However a pontoon on the river underneath the forest canopy would also be fairly cool.

We go kayaking fairly often, having river frontage out our back door helps.

But lately I have been building chicken coops, and today started adding roofs onto our hog pens. So I today I have been far removed from the river.
