My wife and I will be in Bar Harbor in mid-May, and are looking for things to see and do (and eat!) on MDI, as well as points south and west. We'll be in BH for a weekend, and then have another commitment in southern VT at the end of the following week, so we're looking for great spots in ME, NH, and VT during the few days we have in between.

Any ideas? We love the outdoors (biking, hiking, kayaking), seafood (all food, really), and our tastes tend towards the quaint and homey. We're not 5-star resort people. We prefer cafes, B&Bs, and natural beauty.

So! Recommendations? Advice? Thanks in advance!

There's a nice resteraunt (spelling doesn't count) at Hull's Cove just before you get to the park entrance The wife and I always enjoy. We had breakfast at a place on the right on th eway in, before Hulls Cove. I think it's built from logs. Can't remember the names.

Have you considered biking the carriage roads? Acadia National Park - Bicycling (U.S. National Park Service)

Some places rent bikes. Acadia Bike - Different Routes

Or simply walking the trails. Beautiful place. Enjoy.

bender is right-many many trails around that area,
just yesterday, im close to southwest harbor and pull off the road to make a cell call-then I realize im at the start of a trail- so, to stretch my legs I walk down the trail- only about 100 yards and then it follows the shore-very pretty area!!
