Hello everyone,

I am looking for opinions on lodges/venues/halls in Maine for a fall wedding.

I am looking for something coastal, preferably south of Portland.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Not sure what your budget is, but give The Black Tie Company a look. I know someone who recently used them for a wedding. Price will depend on the time of year. If it's when there are lots of weddings, price will be higher. The people I know who used them had the ceremony at The Portland Club in Portland. It is an amazing location for a wedding. They had to guarantee a certain number of guests and they had a buffet style meal. You can have a cash bar or put a certain amount of money down on an open bar. When that $$ is gone, it turns into a cash bar. I thought the price was very reasonable, don't remember the exact cost per meal, but there was no charge for the Portland Club if you guaranteed a certain number of guests. I'd wager it's the cheapest catered wedding you could get in Portland and the venue is simply amazing.

The Cliff House in Cape Neddick.

The Landing in Pine Point

The Inn by the Sea in Cape Elizabeth

Those are some of the first coastal venues that come to mind for nice weddings that I have attended.
(8 years and counting in a wedding band)

The Portland Club is very cool, agreed. I've played at probably 75% of the Black Tie venues.

My son and daughter in law had a great destination wedding on MDI. And since we live here, we found them ways to do it very very inexpensively. Lots of friends and relatives came and spent the week. Fall is a wonderful time here and extends all the way until the end of October.

Thanks for the suggestions everybody. I emailed the Black Tie Co.

Slyfox - Can you tell me a bit about the lodging/catering etc. for your daughter's wedding? We are canadian and our dollar is quite low right now, so we are on a budget!

Lastly, if anyone has any suggestions on lodging that would include several cottages that would be great.
Again, prefer southern coast, but MDI seems like a cool area as well.

Thanks!

We found a local hall that was very inexpensive--The School House. And kids did their own catering since they had two chefs in the wedding party(along with a PhD physicist--my son) and an MD Internist(my daughter-in-law's college roommate). Lodging was what you'd expect in a resort. The wedding party rented a house locally for the week afterwards as their honeymoon---which was cheap for all involved.
