I said that my property taxes in Ct are sixty-four times higher than my Maine property taxes.

I dont know anyone who pays $53 a year for property taxes either.

I pay $47 a year.

But a third of my land is marsh.

Well I took the high side as I STILL can't believe your property tax is that low!!!
I'll bet you have more than 2.65 acres for $5000 a year too don't you!

In Maine I have 42 acres of riverfrontage forest.

In Ct I have 0.25 acre.

89 cents?

$47 / 42 = $1.12

42 acres at $1.12 per acre = $47
[ or there abouts using the new fuzzy math ]

The real problem is that I am from away. Native Mainers are taxed at the Native Mainer rates, so they pay higher taxes. Whereas those of us from away are only taxed at the 'away' rates.

That is why folks from away generally cant believe how cheap the taxes are in Maine.

While the Mainers complain about their high taxes.
