My wife and I are considering the move to the Ellsworth area.We vacationed near MDI and fell in love with the area. What are my chances of finding a job using my CDL for local driving only? Also considering getting training in HVAC. Any advice would be appreciated!

There's a shortage of truck drivers all over a Maine. It should be easy finding a job that takes you home at the end of the day.

Eastern Maine Community College in Bangor offers HVAC and other trades, and there are plenty of jobs for those willing to work. It is difficult to find year round rentals in places like MDI, but Ellsworth should work — or start with a seasonal rental in September. Check the local papers - Ellsworth American, Bangor Daily News, etc. Or FB marketplace. I used a property manager for my first rental.

Most of Ellsworth is too busy for me — I suggest looking to the surrounding towns. And MDI is beautiful - but it’s one of the most expensive areas. Decide what’s most important — a quick commute, good schools, cost of living, and go for it! Moving here was the best decision I’ve ever made, and for my kids too, We love it! Best of luck!
