Pat LaMarche joined the referendum campaign for a casino in Oxford County back in April. Today she resigned. Her reasons were interesting, to say the least. I haven't really seen anything about the casino in the papers or on TV.

LaMarche leaves casino effort
By Scott Thistle
Regional Editor

The campaign to bring a privately run casino to Oxford County was dealt a blow Tuesday when Pat LaMarche said she would no longer serve as the campaign's spokesperson.

LaMarche, a well-known Maine political figure and former Green Party candidate for governor and vice president, said her resignation was effective immediately.

"I've promised the people of Maine I would never lie to them and if I keep this job I would have to break that promise," LaMarche said.

I like that she supposedly won't lie. She didn't get elected as gov. because she was proposing plainly bad ideas.
