I have a long piece of rebar that's hooked on one end and has a handle on the other... I hang over and hook whatever I want and drag it up. lol We also have a Swap Shop run by the Brewster Men's Clud where you can bring all kinds of things for donation. You're also welcome to pick through the scrap metal pile, get free woodchips from the brush and wood pile area, etc.

I've gotten bureaus, tables, windows, doors, etc., that I paint decoratively and resell.

They have a little re-use area at the recycling center(how quaint) where you can pick up an old window or used ski poles or something useful like that....nothing practical.

Gray, Me used to have a great "transfer station" where you could go picking. Heck we hauled a magnicient coat tree all the way out here to AZ from the dump
