Saturday, 28 March - Seed Swap and Scion Exchange!

12-4 pm

The Maine Tree Crop Alliance, the Maine Seed Saving Network, Fedco and MOFGA will host the eleventh annual combined Seed Swap and Scionwood Exchange, in Unity.

For gardeners and orchardists, it’s like the most wonderful flea market in the world.

Not only that but most of the best stuff is free!

Please bring any seeds, scionwood, or cuttings you have to share freely with others.

Last year they gave away scionwood from over 100 fruit varieties.

These contributions are what make the day a success.

Okay, so who else is going?

We'll be going to the exchange in 2 weeks. Will also be doing Rural Living Days in April. Anyone doing that one?

Wow, it was great!

I got a bunch of seed, no scions but there were a lot of scions.

The speakers were great too!

After reading some many trade journals all winter, I had some questions. So it was really nice being able to ask experts.

I have some chestnut bareroot trees in the basement waiting to be planting, today I was also given a handful of viable chestnut seeds that I can plant also.

A nice sunny day, and when I got home our maple trees had sap for me too.

As if you can get anything done with two feet of snow still piled up when you could have been at the N&C having good food and enjoying the company of the Calais Clan. Your loss, forest.

Actually, a lot of our snow has melted away...It's a tough time of the year for us, we are getting close, but we know that there may be another snow, and although there is mud on the top of the soil, the soil is still frozen...so until we (the royal we- ie he) can get out there, it's workshops, and planning and dreaming.

Other than that, the important one of this team was there
