I was just curious if other people use google earth to check on places they think they may want to go or live.
I find myself spending hours sometimes looking at steet view photos and ariel views. It can give you a idea of what places look like, may save some time. I can see street view pics and decide not for me, or thats a place worth looking at in person.

I use Google earth to enhance my information on a property. I don't use it as a final judgment.

We used it extensively to decide which houses we wanted to see in-person on two house-hunting trips. It saved us a ton of time - love it!

It works only on primary highways and urban areas. It does not cover rural areas very well.

I enjoy "walking around" the streets of Eastport. Oddly, there is more on street view for there than the over 20K populated town I live in now.

Click on street view.. and A little guy pops up, you use your arrows on the keyboard to navigate him. At least that's how I remember it, it has been a while.

The other good thing is it gives you better idea how far from say the nearest store or gas station the house is. And if you use Google maps online and have a GPS you can get directions, plug your GPS in to your computer and Google will download the info to your GPS for you. I have a Garmin and it works great and saves time.
